    AMENITIES & SERVICES
What to expect: La Posada ("the inn") sits 2 blocks from the Plaza on 6 acres of landscaped grounds with fountains. The resort's centerpiece is the Staab House, a Victorian mansion built by an Old Santa Fe Trail merchant. The clusters of adobe casitas, many with patio entrances, reflect the resort's heritage as one of Santa Fe's first tourist courts. La Posada caters to sophisticated travelers who appreciate the resort's extraordinary services and romantic ambience.

Amenity highlights: La Posada's Avanyu Spa offers traditional, New Age, and Southwestern treatments. Signature services include the Desert Herbal Wrap and the Oasis Glow. The resort offers complimentary shuttle service within a 2 1/2-mile radius, making downtown and Canyon Road attractions easily accessible. Guests are invited to complimentary wine tastings, a make-a-margarita program and sampling, and a kitchen reception with a chance to watch the chef make magic. Art from 14 Santa Fe galleries is displayed throughout the hotel.

Insider tip: La Posada purportedly has a resident ghost, Julia Staab, wife of Abraham Staab, who built the Staab House, the city's first brick mansion. Julia died mysteriously in an upstairs room, and is said to occasionally cause mischief. The ghost story has been featured on Unsolved Mysteries, and La Posada's Staab House is part of Santa Fe's Ghost Tour.

La Posada is constructed around the Victorian Staab House, and the lobby, with big couches on either side of a fireplace, blends Victorian influences with Santa Fe’s trademark adobe style. Up a few stairs from the lobby is a stained-glass rose window, a library with the original wood floor with star designs, and the Staab House bar and saloon with Victorian-style furnishings. Paintings, sculpture, and photography on loan from Santa Fe’s leading galleries hang in hallways, public spaces, and guestrooms.

The lobby is the site for the resort’s complimentary art talks, shopping preview programs, and informal lectures about the city’s history.

Fountains, benches, ancient fruit trees, towering cottonwoods and elms, and newer landscaping with drought-tolerant plants mark the resort’s courtyards and patios. The 4,500-square-foot Avanya Spa offers massage, body treatments, facials, and hair and nail care. The adjoining fitness center features a steam room, free weights, and cardiovascular and resistance equipment. In addition to the main spa tub, a private outdoor spa tub is available for a fee. The hotel’s outdoor pool is heated for winter swimming.
